Windows 8 Surface Tablet Prices Finally Surface

Ever since the Microsoft representatives at the helm of affairs announced the Windows 8 Surface Tablet, the rumour mill came alive with a vengeance. The tech-savvy fellows have constantly been toyed with as a series of numbers flew around, being claimed as the ‘appropriate’ prices for the upcoming Windows 8 Surface Tablet. Now that Microsoft has explicitly announced pricing for the Surface Tablet, the various speculations have finally been kissed goodbye. Let us cut to the chase and tell you that the price of Surface is $499. Our take on the latest pricing will shed limelight on what this new development means for the tablet market.

Were All The Rumours True Afterall?

Starting from the very first news of the Windows 8 Surface Tablet, rumors about its price began to pour in. Interestingly, we had a complete variety of prices starting from an absurd $199 to an appalling $1000. All and sundry have undergone a tough period, trying to guess the right price but to no avail. It is obvious that the legit $499 price tag defies the meaningless extremes that rumors tried to take. Henceforth, it’s about time we accepted that rumours shall always be rumours.

Will The Customers Be Satisfied With The New Price?

It is a well-known fact that customers are after lower prices. This is precisely where the finally rumored price tag of $199 heightened the anticipation of most. The bubble has eventually burst. The new price is clearly a lot higher than what was initially expected. This will clearly dent the purpose of Microsoft as a price tag of $499 is not going to break any grounds.

How Well Does It Fair Against Competitors

There is a Chinese proverb that emphasizes the need to identify your rivals before making a move. Question is, has Microsoft been able to achieve this in the process? Unfortunately not. Android tablets already sell for as low as $199, Google Nexus 7 is a prime example. The new iPad Mini has recently been priced at $250, which itself is being criticized by a few peeps. Hence, a price tag of $200 would have made a lot more sense for Windows 8 Surface Tablet. However, Microsoft seems to be fighting a war against competitors for a losing cause.

Does The New Pricing Placate The OEMs

If the Windows 8 Surface Tablet were to sell for $199, Microsoft would clearly have jolted the OEMs. With the genuine prices revealed of late, it is safe to assume that the OEMs would feel a lot safer than they would if the price of $199 had been established. Let us not forget that the OEMs will also have to compensate for the Microsoft licensing fees which can easily cost up to $85 per tablet. Therefore, we are sure that OEMs won’t be squirming in their seats as they read this.
